CLOVIS ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME

Clovis Unified School District 2018 Hall of Fame

HOFLogo

“We want you to teach our students to win with class and to lose with dignity. But we also want you to teach them that there is a lot more to being a winner than the final game score. We want you to teach them to root for their team to win, not for the other team to lose. We want you to teach our kids what to do when they lose. We want you to get them off their duffs and get them back in the fight. Don’t you let them give up. And if we can teach them not to be quitters by the time they finish the 12th grade in Clovis schools, they will probably make it through life.”

–Floyd “Doc” Buchanan, Ed.D.

Nominations were accepted from the community, school sites, media and district staff throughout the year. All nominations were reviewed by a selection committee and voted on based on their individual accomplishments and overall contribution to Clovis Unified School District. To provide equal representation, nominees were considered based on the decade within which he or she participated in athletics while enrolled in Clovis Unified School District. Annually there are a total of nine inductees into the Clovis Unified School District Athletic Hall of Fame. Four of the honorees are represented in the Athletic Hall of Fame: Pre-1970s, 1980s, 1990s and 2000s, with subsequent decades added in the future. There are two at-large inductees selected from any time in the history of Clovis Unified School District. The Dr. Floyd B. ‘Doc’ Buchanan award honors a person or program instrumental in representing the core values of Clovis Unified School District and is inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame each year. The final two Clovis Unified School District Athletic Hall of Fame inductees are teams or programs from any decade.
