Multiplying fractions is the easiest operation when dealing with fractions.  Simply multiply the numerators together and the denominators together.  If possible, look for common factors before multiplying.

For example:

First, multiply numerators and denominators.  Then, simplify.  fract_ml3.gif (1290 bytes)

Another example:

frac_ml4.gif (1129 bytes)

First, instead of multiplying across, find common factors of the numerators and denominators.  frac_ml7.gif (1137 bytes)frac_ml5.gif (1517 bytes)

There are factors in common to 7 & 21 and 18 & 10.  There is one 7 in 7 and three 7s in 21.  There are two 9s in 18 and two 5s in 10.
Next, multiply.   frac_ml6.gif (1180 bytes)
