Multiplying decimals look tough, but the process is not to different from multiplying whole numbers.  Let's take this one:

          4.5 x  0.2 7 =

Here's how:

        4.5
   .27
      315
  900
    1215

answer:  one and two hundred fifteen thousandths

1st   Line up the numbers on the right &
multiply just as would with whole numbers.
Remember - do not line up the decimal points
2nd  Add the products.
3rd   Place the decimal point in the answer by
starting at the right and moving a number
of places equal to the sum of the decimal
places in both numbers multiplied.  In this
case the decimal is moved three places
over from the right (between the 1 & 2).
