On July 13 the Governing Board approved a change to the 2011-2012 school and work year calendar. 

Included in this calendar is a furlough day for all employees on October 31, 2011. This represents a move from the originally scheduled Aug. 19 furlough day for certificated employees, and the June 15, 2012, furlough day for all classified, classified management, and certificated management employees. The two additional furlough days scheduled in the 2011-2012 calendar (Aug. 16 and Oct. 10 for certificated and Oct. 10 and April 9 for classified, classified management and certificated management remain).  Additionally, all Duty Day employees scheduled to start work on Aug. 22 will now begin their work year on Friday, Aug. 19, 2011.
