March 17th Global Connect Message to all 6th Grade Parents:

Good evening!  This is an important message regarding the Clovis Unified Laptop program.   We are calling with an invitation to parents of current sixth and seventh grade students to learn more about the program.  The District will host parent information nights for families interested in having their student enrolled in the learning with laptops program for the 2013-2014 school year.   Information nights are open to all parents and will be held March 19th at Reyburn; March 20th at Clark; March 21st at Kastner; April 3rd at Alta Sierra, and April 4th at Granite Ridge.  All meetings will start at 6 p.m. and last less than an hour.  For more information and meeting locations, log onto our laptop program web site at www.cusd.com/laptop.  We hope you join us to learn more about this award winning program.  If you would like to repeat this message, please hit 2.

CUSD Bundles

All CUSD Bundles purchased through www.laptopschools.com come with a 1-4 year warranty which includes Accidental Damage Protection. These machines may be serviced through the CUSD Technology Service Center at 1542 David E. Cook Way, where loaners are normally available while your machine is being repaired.

About AAAL

The vision of the Anytime, Anywhere, Anyone Learning with Laptops program (AAAL) in the Clovis Unified School District is to have any student in grades seven through twelve using a computer anytime they need to and anywhere they are.  The AAAL program is available at all District intermediate schools.

The program is a partnership with parents, the school district, Laptopschools.com and Lenovo to provide greater access to technology for students. We learned that when students have access to a laptop computer anytime and anywhere, powerful changes begin to occur in students’ schoolwork, and in their learning.

The mainstay of the AAAL program is what is known as a laptop immersion class, where every student uses their own laptop every day. However, the schools also work hard to maximize the availability of the program using a variety of strategies. Some schools rotate classroom sets of computers to different classrooms for the students to use. Another strategy being used is the "in-class loaner" program, where District-owned laptops are kept in selected classrooms for the year. Students use these in-class loaners during the school day, and rely on their own computers at home.
