WHAT: A $298 million facility bond measure designed to maintain excellent neighborhood schools, offset state budget cuts, and retain/attract quality teachers without increasing the 2012 tax rate.
WHEN: California’s Presidential Primary Election June 5, 2012
TAX
IMPACT: As in recent CUSD bond measures, if approved, Measure A would not increase the existing tax rate at the time of the election.

• Acquiring sites, constructing and equipping new schools

• Enhancing vocational education facilities
• Ensuring handicapped accessibility
• Health and safety improvements to older schools to repair deteriorating restrooms and leaky roofs, replace outdated heating and air conditioning systems, security systems and fire alarms

Mountain View Elementary School (22 years old)
- Expand and reconfigure library for instructional areas and storage
- Upgrade HVAC system
- Replace fire alarm
- Expand and reconfigure main office for storage, waiting area and offices
- Repairs to door hardware, ceilings, casework, wall finishes
- Replace interior ceilings
- Efficiency improvements in lighting for classrooms, MPR, main office, library
- Improve exterior lighting
- Upgrade technology data network and wireless technology to increase bandwidth and Internet access
- Replace PA, clock, phone system
- New Exterior Video Surveillance System
- Various landscaping upgrades to interior campus including the replacement of raising or broken concrete
- Replace restroom plumbing fixtures and upgrade interior of restrooms
- Complete Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) required upgrades
