Because every child is unique; and as educators we must be ready anytime, anywhere to meet a child just where they are in their educational journey. That’s why I like the meaning behind the words every child, every chance, every day.

Every child. As a parent, it is my hope that my child’s teacher looks at her as an individual and makes the effort to get to know her unique learning style. As an educational leader, it’s my expectation that our teachers do just that. We can’t pick and choose the students we serve. Instead, we must be prepared to make the effort necessary to know each child for their own strengths and weaknesses, and then adjust our teaching accordingly.

Every chance. You never know when you might get a second chance with a student, and therefore we can’t let any opportunity to reach a child pass us by. It’s an incomparable feeling to see the light of understanding come into the eyes of a child; that ‘Aha!’ moment when the concept is grasped, the lesson understood. Every chance means just that, we must take every chance we have to reach our students’ minds and tap into their passion.

Every day. Just like we can’t choose the students who walk through our classroom doors, we can’t pick and choose those days we will deliver our ‘A’ game. Every day we must be prepared to do our best. It’s what our parents expect. It’s what our students deserve.
