The Department of Supplemental Services is responsible for many activities. A major activity is the development of the Consolidated Application. This application process is used by the Clovis Unified School District to apply for categorical program funding through state and federal sources. Our Department oversees the Categorical Federal Program Monitoring. On an ongoing basis, our Department oversees whether or not the district is using categorical aid monies following the state and federal laws and regulations.
Many funding sources coming from the state and federal government have specific guidelines regarding the makeup, role and responsibility for a council or committee. The Department guides school sites on the rules and regulations of these committees, and also houses the State Compensatory Education District Advisory Committee. The Department assists in monitoring the most recent reauthorization of ESEA, the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) of 2001. The Department assists in developing The Local Education Agency Plan which outlines the coordination of Clovis Unified School District educational plan for students. The Department monitors as part of state and federal program requirements, parent notification and participation.
The goal of Supplemental Services is to create and maintain the best educational environment possible. Schools can accomplish this with your support and input. We have listed several links that should assist you with information pertaining to the many aspects and components of our programs. We would enjoy talking with you about any of the programs we offer our students. To learn more about categorical programs you may want to become involved in your school’s School Site Council (SSC), English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) and/or attend the Annual Title I Parent Meeting.
