COVID-19: Instructional Options for Families

Clovis Unified is committed now, as always, to providing an excellent education for our students in mind, body and spirit. Due to COVID restrictions, Clovis Unified School District began the 2020-21 school year with all instruction in an online format. While our Governing Board did vote to provide parents a choice for their students of online or onsite, some of those choices could not come into effect until Fresno County met the governor’s requirements allowing for onsite instruction.

In October, as State and Fresno County Department of Public Health guidelines allow for a return to on-campus learning, parents were given a choice for their child to continue school online or participate in a hybrid-model that includes in-person instruction.

As always, with each delivery method of instruction, we are ready to work with your child and you to assist however possible.

On-Campus Hybrid Learning

Hybrid Learning
Practical details of the health and safety guidelines for in-person learning – schedules, staggered sessions, times, etc. – are being determined by each school site individually based on parent and staff survey responses. Each school site will be communicating details of their unique plans to families. Please call or visit your school's website for details.

A return to campus will include:

  • Hybrid schedule, with a mix of on-campus instruction and at-home independent work
  • Possible teacher changes due to differences in students' and teachers' preferences between online and in-person models
  • Required face coverings and PPE
  • Daily temperature checks
  • Health screenings
  • Social distancing
  • Smaller class sizes (resulting from social distancing requirements)
  • Using every available instructional space
  • Enhanced disinfecting of spaces
  • Hand sanitizing upon classroom entry
  • No on-campus visitors
Technology Support

Clovis Unified will provide online learning support such as a device, Wi-Fi, or a hotspot. Contact your school to get the process started. Please see below for assistance with common technology issues. For further assistance, contact the Technology Department at 327-9595.
