Superintendent O’Brien offers an encouraging word and a look at the path ahead in today’s video update. Watch it here:
Thank you to our entire team as we approach the end of our second week of distance learning. Even while we observe social distancing, take a minute to give yourself a pat on the back! Through our collective and individual actions we are showing our community that we care about our kids and we care about education. A list of frequently asked questions and answers are being updated on our website, and one of the questions we know is on everyone’s mind is whether our current April 14 return date will be extended. We continue to plan for the worst case scenario but hope for a return to school April 14.
We are staying in regular communication with health officials and will be making a decision about an extension of distance learning by the latter part of next week. This decision will be made keeping the health of our entire community in mind while at the same time recognizing that the COVID-19 situation is rapidly evolving and we do not intend to make any decisions in the short-term that will impact the end of the school year.
You don’t have to go far to see examples of outstanding work by team CUSD, whether it is car caravans of teachers taking to the streets of neighborhoods to share a positive word (affixed to their car windows), our technology team supporting teachers and students in distance learning, or the teams of people getting meals into the hands of our families, check out our CUSD social media channels for lots of uplifting stories. Today’s fun fact, in the last seven days Clovis Unified’s single sign on for curriculum and online resources, Clever, has seen 22,700 students log-in, and 1,200 teachers. We are definitely keeping busy delivering learning from a distance.
Keep it up Clovis Unified!
