Commitment to the Community

Superintendent Corrine Folmer, Ed.D.This year, we are rallying around a theme, “Where Tradition Inspires Tomorrow,” and as we prepared for the start of the school year, I found myself reflecting on the traditions that have shaped our district and the inspiration they provide for the future.

Our theme is about looking back AND about looking forward, which I believe is critical to remaining a high-quality school district into the future. We are looking back to ensure we stay true to the timeless values that are core to our approach to educating our students, valuing the partnership of our families and community, and working to preserve strong relationships with our incredible educational team. At the same
time, we are looking forward to remain on the cutting edge of innovation and best practices around educating students for our world today and in the future.

As part of this mission, our Annual Report each fall is intended to provide you a comprehensive look at our schools and our return on your investment as a member of our local community. We hold ourselves accountable to our students, our educational team and to you – our community.

Education transforms lives, and our district’s journey is a testament to that truth. This year we are celebrating our 65th anniversary as a unified school district and since Day 1, our community’s support of our schools has been integral to our success. The same remains true today, and we invite you to learn more in the following pages about how we are delivering on our commitments to you and to our students.

You are an essential part of our students’ success. Whether you are a parent, volunteer or a community partner, your involvement matters. Join us – and our more than 43,000 students and close to 7,000 educators – as we celebrate our past and work to make our future a bright one.

Timeless Core Values in Action Today

  • Hiring is the Most Important Thing We Do.

Clovis High chemistry teacher Doug Warner is the 2025 California League of Educators’ State High School Teacher of the Year. Warner is known for his innovative labs and ability to connect with students.

“My goal in teaching is not necessarily to make sure every student loves chemistry or science, but that they learn how to become independent thinkers who can problem-solve many types of questions through logic and critical thinking skills.”

Warner exemplifies Clovis Unified‘s teachers who are committed to the district’s high standards and preparing students for life.

  • Students Are at the Center of Every Decision.

Fifteen years ago, a small number of families asked for a remote learning option. Thanks to advancements in technology – and our commitment to meeting student needs – Clovis Online School was born. It began with 50 students and a few staff in portable buildings. Today, the school serves over 1,000 students with 40+ teachers in a newly opened, purpose-built campus. Designed to support hybrid online learning, the facility includes teaching offices, collaboration spaces, a science lab, and a counseling center. Clovis Online School is a testament to what’s possible when we stay true to our core values by putting students first while also adapting for the future.

  • We are Stewards of Our Community’s Resources.

Clovis Unified has long embraced the challenge of doing more with less. Though among the lowest-funded district per student in the county, we continue to pursue excellence in both programs and facilities. The new Terry P. Bradley Educational Center reflects this commitment. Planners prioritized modern, efficient design while honoring our tradition of beautiful campuses. For the first time, a Clovis Unified football field features artificial turf that will reduce water use, lower maintenance and increase durability. This innovation supports not only athletics, but also daily marching band practices and physical education classes. By investing wisely and planning thoughtfully, we continue to honor our legacy while building for the future.

  • Value Diversity and Cultural Views of Our Community.

Clovis Unified’s student success conferences offer students a chance to explore cultures, build understanding and envision their future. Each year, conferences highlighting African-American, Asian, Latino and Native American cultures allow students to explore and gain understanding. The conferences continue to expand and are open to all students. Through keynote speakers, college and career sessions, and cultural demonstrations, participants connect with mentors, discover new perspectives and gain a vision for their future.

  • Educate the Whole Child in Mind, Body and Spirit.

Clovis Unified has long held the belief that competition and teamwork help students grow in commitment, perseverance and camaraderie – skills that serve them for life. This principle has found new expression through esports, a modern activity based on video game play that blends strategy, communication and practice. This year, 32 students participated in the inaugural Buchanan Area ESports Recreational (B.A.E.R.) League tournament, competing in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Many of these students had not previously taken part in traditional school sports or co-curriculars. Esports gave them a new way to connect, to be seen and to represent their school at an exciting competition. As other schools explore similar programs, esports exemplifies how Clovis Unified supports the whole child by honoring tradition and embracing new ways to inspire tomorrow.
