Last night the following message was shared with our Clovis Unified families after our Board took action to prolong distance learning through at least May 22. In today’s message, Superintendent Eimear O’Brien, Ed.D., shares more about how this decision was made and what it means for families. Watch her message here:
During their meeting last night, the Governing Board discussed the status of Clovis Unified’s suspension of on-site classes through May 1, the current status of California’s Stay at Home Order and local orders related to COVID-19 mitigation, along with guidance from the Fresno County Department of Public Health. Following their discussion, the Board voted to extend the temporary suspension of on-site instruction through May 22, 2020. While considering the possibility that the status of the COVID-19 outbreak would still prohibit the return of students to classes, the Board retained the option to consider the issue at their meetings on May 6 and May 20, 2020, to reassess the status of widespread COVID-19 testing, and federal, state and local social distancing guidance.
