We are just two days away from Spring Break, even if it doesn’t feel like it! In the coming week, we hope that all of our employees will find the opportunity to rest and take a break. To help that happen, the District is suspending service of meals and distance learning, and closing the district offices over Spring Break.
During their April 1, 2020, meeting the Clovis Unified Governing Board authorized the extension of Clovis Unified’s suspension of on-site classes from April 13 to May 1, but emphasized that distance learning is well underway. The Board accepted the recommendation by Superintendent O’Brien, which was made recognizing that the current public health situation is changing rapidly and that it may be necessary in the future to consider a further extension.
“We will not open our schools prematurely, but feel that it is also not yet time to make a decision that so greatly impacts our students and families by suspending on-site instruction all the way through the final days of the current school year,” O’Brien said. At their meeting April 22 the Board will re-evaluate the status of distance learning using information from local and state public health and education officials, and we will continue to keep our employees well informed throughout.
- Employees should stay in good communication with their supervisors about arrangements for end of year activities and the continuation of distance learning and meal service, along with the district’s business and plant operations in the coming weeks.
- There will not be updates from Dr. O’Brien during Spring Break, and we wish our entire educational team a rejuvenating break as we prepare for the final run through the end of the school year.
