First Aid CPR/AED

Program Information

  • All employees, coaches, and volunteers can receive First Aid CPR/AED training free through the Risk Management First Aid Program. All trainees must submit a First Aid CPR/AED Training Worksheet using the link above in order to start the training process.

To obtain more information, please review our training standards and guidelines.

    Two Training Options

    • New Certification In-Person Training Course (instruction and skills testing completed during course)
    • Recertification (Renewal) Blended Learning Training Process (online instruction with in-person skills testing)
  • Our training standards for all First Aid CPR/AED certifications are based on OSHA guidelines with oversight from our Director of Nursing, Marie Thuringer.

All individuals trained through our Program must be cleared to work by our Human Resources Department.

    Our Standards

    • Our First Aid CPR/AED training curriculum is provided through the Health & Safety Institute (HSI) and applies to the adult age group (individuals 8 years of age or older)
    • All trainees in our Program are required to complete in-person skills testing with one of our certified instructors
    • Our Program does not accept any certifications from organizations that issue certifications cards without conducting in-person, hands-on skills testing with a certified instructor (i.e. online only courses)
    • All District coaches must obtain First Aid CPR/AED certification for at least the adult age group and are required to complete additional trainings for concussion in sports, sudden cardiac arrest, and heat illness prevention
  • All new certification courses are conducted in-person and last approximately 4.5 hours. Trainees must attend the entire in-person course, cannot arrive late or leave early, and pass skills testing with a certified instructor.

Who is eligible to attend a new certification course?

    • Individuals who have never previously obtained certification in Adult First Aid CPR/AED
    • Individuals with previous training that did not meet CUSD training standards (i.e. missing a core skill, online only training, wrong age group)
    • Individuals with a previous certification that is over than 6 months expired
