Posted Wednesday, June 3, 2020
Clovis Unified is continuing to work toward a full return to our programs and use of facilities that is consistent with the phased re-opening of California’s business and service community. These plans are developed with input from local health officials and are consistent with health and safety guidance currently in place. The following is an update on district programs and services offered by Clovis Unified for programs set to begin in June.
Campus Club:
Childcare programs offered through Campus Club are planning to re-open a limited number of classes at a reduced number of sites this summer. First, on June 15, 2020, some sites will open for children of employees of essential educational services of the district. Some additional spots will be available to the public beginning June 22, 2020. More information on Campus Club’s summer programs, hours of operation, daily costs, applications and new safety protocols in place will be available on the Campus Club website at
https://www.cusd.com/CampusClub.aspx
District Offices:
As of June 15, 2020, the District’s Business Offices at the 1450 Herndon Ave. complex will re-open to the public during regular summer business hours of Monday – Thursday, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Rental of Clovis Unified Facilities:
Rental of facilities by organizations/businesses authorized to operate by local and state regulations will be allowed to resume effective June 7, 2020. Priority for facility use requests will be given first to District programs and follow season of sport guidelines for preferential use. Contact the Facilities Department for waiver and contract requirements for existing use requests or to submit a new facility use request to the District.
Sports and Recreation and Co-Curricular Programs (camps, clinics, sports and visual and performing arts):
As of June 8, 2020, programs (except those in weight rooms and pools) may begin to resume, so long as they adhere to new healthy program guidelines. This includes a maximum of 10 participants grouped per instructor/trainer/director and physical distancing at a minimum of 6 feet between students. A number of additional safety guidelines, self-screenings, time limits, and health and cleaning protocols will be in place and communicated by individual programs to participants. Individual coaches/instructors/directors will be in contact with students in specific programs with details of their program times, locations, capacities and costs. At this time, the County of Fresno is in Stage 2.5 Recovery of the California State Order, which prohibits the opening of pools used by the public and weight rooms. The District has submitted a request to open in the coming weeks as authorized by the State of California to do so.
Summer Meals:
Beginning June 8 through July 31 weekly meal service will continue with pick up times changing from their current schedule to 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. each Wednesday. Locations for summer meal service will remain the same as those available during the school year. More information about specific sites is available online at cusd.com.
Summer School:
The District’s independent study and online Summer School will begin as scheduled with elementary programs starting June 15, 2020, and our secondary program starting as early as June 9. Summer instruction will be delivered remotely. Individual schools are in communication with families of students enrolled in Summer School with specific information about their instructional program. Questions can be directed to the Summer School office at 559-327-0662.
