Clovis Unified continues to follow California's Department of Public Health Guidance for Schools on health and safety protocols. As we continue to be in communication with the CDPH, updates will be shared on this page. The District's complete and most current COVID-19 Safety Plan can be found here.

Students, parents and staff can expect the following health and safety protocols:

Students

  • Masks: Remain optional and are available upon request for employees and students.
  • Symptomatic: If sick, students and staff should stay home and are encouraged to test for COVID, notifying the school if positive.
  • Positive cases: Students who have a positive COVID diagnosis are expected to report the diagnosis to the school attendance office, and may return after five days if symptoms are resolving and a negative test has been taken. Proof of a negative COVID test does not need to be provided to the school.  If returning before 10 days from the onset of symptoms or a positive test, students should wear a mask through Day 10.  Home tests are available from your school site if needed.
  • Symptoms at school: Students and staff who become symptomatic at school continue to follow last year's protocols and guidelines for isolation until able to be picked up or leave.

Parents

  • Cleaning: Enhanced cleaning and deep cleaning continues on a regular basis, including daily vacuuming and cleaning (including wiping down high-use surfaces), weekly disinfectant fogging, and a specialized sanitizing team on call if there is a positive case in a classroom or building. Disinfectant spray bottles and antimicrobial towels are available throughout buildings. Permanent upgrades in our HVAC systems are in place, along with free-standing HEPA filters positioned in every classroom and in common areas.
  • Volunteers: Like staff, volunteers must complete symptom screening when arriving on campus and notify school of being vaccinated or recently testing negative. Tests and masks are available upon request. More details can be found on the required volunteer form when checking in at the school, and the symptom screening will be a part of our Raptor check-in process.

Full contact tracing is no longer required by the state or county.

Staff

  • Masks: Remain optional and are available upon request for employees and students.
  • Positive cases: Employees  who have a positive COVID diagnosis are expected to report the diagnosis to his/her supervisor and may return after five days if symptoms are resolving and a negative test has been taken. Proof of a negative COVID test does not need to be provided to the supervisor.  If returning before 10 days from the onset of symptoms or a positive test, employees should wear a mask through Day 10.  Home tests are available from your work site if needed.
  • Notification of Positive Cases: While full contact tracing is no longer required by the state or county, if a positive case is identified in a classroom or worksite, notification will occur.
  • Symptoms at school: Students and staff who become symptomatic at school continue to follow last year's protocols and guidelines for isolation until able to be picked up or leave campus.
  • Symptomatic: If sick, students and staff should stay home and are encouraged to test for COVID, notifying the school if positive.
  • PPE: Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and test kits are available as needed.
