Behavior Consultation Team

The Behavior Consultation Team (BCT) is one of nine initiatives that comprise the Clovis Unified School District’s Comprehensive Wellness Project.  The BCT consists of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), School Psychologists, Instructional Assistants (IAs), and Teachers on Special Assignment (TOSAs) who work collaboratively to promote Mind, Body, and Spirit by providing positive behavior interventions and social-emotional supports for all students preschool through adult school.

Our Mission

Our goal is to collaborate, provide guidance, and equip school teams with the necessary skills in developing and implementing compassionate, student-centered, and effective strategies to reduce concerning behaviors and increase social-emotional learning.

Our Services

• Consultation: Our team’s diverse array of expertise, backgrounds, and extensive years of experience allow us to work effectively and collaboratively with school teams to develop and adjust positive behavior intervention plans to reduce challenging behavior, increase staff confidence in responding to concerning behaviors, and foster students who are happy, relaxed, and engaged at school.
• Intervention: For students with more complex behavioral needs, our team includes highly-trained Instructional Assistants (IAs) who work directly with the student under the supervision of a BCBA or School Psychologist to provide short-term, direct support in developing, implementing, monitoring, and adjusting individualized behavior support plans that promote student success, safety, and independence in the classroom.
• Training: We empower educators and other school staff by providing training on evidence-based practices that promote behavioral and social-emotional health, trauma-informed care, whole class behavior management systems, functional behavior assessment (FBA) data collection and planning, alternatives to suspension, and other topics relevant to student and staff wellbeing.  In collaboration with school sites, we also offer parent training on behavior management strategies at home.
