Clovis Aquatics is a department within Clovis Unified School District that offers various Aquatic Programming to serve our community and surrounding areas. We operate to serve as many as we can and the different aspects of Aquatics.
Aquatics provides lifesaving classes with our swim lessons. Drowning is one of the top causes of death in young people in the United States, through our lessons program (Seahourse Swim School) we provide classes that develops water safety for children ages 3 – 12 years old. This program currently runs May – August.
We also are looking to increase participation in Aquatic sports by having our Aquatic Academy and Summer League Programs. Summer League is a 5 – 7 week program that is a crash course in competitive swimming which includes district swim meets and championship. The Aquatic Academy is designed to take swimmers from Swim Lessons to Aquatic Sports. This program is ran year round in 3 – 10 week seasons. The focus is to provide developmental practices to be ready for Swim Team and Water Polo Team (Summer Season is Swim Only). Aquatic Academy has district swim meets and can opt in to competing at USA Swimming Swim Meets as well.
Being the Standard of Excellence in Aquatics in the Central Valley. We take pride in being the Standard of Excellence and our Competitive Aquatics programs strive constantly to rise that bar of excellence. Clovis Swim Club, Clovis Water Polo Club, and Clovis Dive Club are our programs that strive for that Excellence. Developing Athletes at many levels, we look to get the most of our Aquatic Athletes, which include development numerous national level athletes.
Creating a Safe Environment. Clovis Aquatics has continued to grow their Lifeguard staff and school staff in the district certified in lifeguarding. This ongoing development now includes providing Lifeguard Classes for their staff, and creating our amazing pool complexes to safer. We are always looking for Lifeguards and Lifeguard Instructors to join our staff, so that we can grow and be able to make our facilities as safe as we can.
Adult Swimming is another of the Community Outreach Programs along with the Swim Lessons. This Program is our Masters Swimming Club. We provide numerous times and sites within the district that adults can swim. We offer designed workouts for those that want one, and we also allow members to just swim as they wish (within the rules of swimming laps).
Clovis Aquatics is operated on the District Campus with part time and full time staff to operate programming year round. We hope that you choose to participate in our programs and possibly join us, as we are always looking for people who would like to work within Aquatics part time.

Rain:
We run swimming practices in the rain (they are going to get wet anyways).
If there is lightning, swimmers are removed from the pool and may not re-enter the pool for 30 minutes. If there is 45 minutes or less of workout, the remainder of practice will likely be cancelled. During the 30 minutes, if there is another strike of lightning, the 30 minutes will then start again from that latest strike.
Sometimes, coaches will conduct Dryland in replace of swim practice during a lightning strike pause, but this will be determined by space available and conditions of the environmWe ent.
Heat:
We have swim practice in the extreme heat. Practice may be altered if both the air and the water are hot. We expect athletes to bring water and/or sports drinks to practice to stay hydrated and replace electrolytes. This is the responsibility of the athlete. We do not provide hydration options.
Cold:
We have swim practice in the cold. Our pools are heated year round with a thermostat to keep water between 78 – 82 degrees. There are issues at times with the heaters, so if the pool goes below 76 degrees, practice may be cancelled. An alternate Dryland workout may be provided, but that will depend on space available and conditions of the environment.
