Remote Paraprofessional Testing
The Paraprofessional Test is offered for remote administration. The exam is completed on a computer and is fully recorded. A live proctor will conduct pre-test verification and provide technical support through the chat feature.
The fee for testing is $21.00--NO REFUNDS.
Testing time starts promptly at the scheduled testing time: If you are late or miss your testing time there are NO REFUNDS.
*If you miss your testing date, you will need to register for a new testing date and pay another fee

After You Pay
An email from ProctorU will provide instructions for scheduling a remote testing session, allowing you to select a time slot and complete the test at your convenience.
Please note that there is a 72‑hour waiting period after registration before you can take the exam. If you need to test sooner, you may pay an additional rush fee of $8.
Test rescheduling is permitted up to 72 hours prior to the scheduled test time using the same fee.

The job of the Paraprofessional is to provide assistance and support in the classroom. The Paraprofessional works closely with teachers, administrators and other educational team members to provide educational benefits to all students. The Paraprofessional Exam is a general aptitude test that is required by many states to be an instructional assistant in an educational institution.
Instructional Assistant I and Instructional Assistant II, Special Education and Bilingual must comply with the Federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB). NCLB imposes numerous requirements on state and local education agencies. One of these requirements is that all paraprofessionals working in Title I schools must be “highly qualified.” In order to be “highly qualified,” a paraprofessional must meet one of the following requirements:
- Completion of at least two years of college education (48 semester units). or
- Possession of an associate’s degree or higher. or
- Successful completion of the Paraprofessional Exam.
