Frequently Asked Questions

Adult First Aid CPR/AED

  • Yes, but all employees, coaches, and volunteers must be cleared to work by Human Resources to sign up for First Aid CPR/AED training. Please reach out to your HR specialist for more information if you are unsure if you are cleared to work.

  • Please email a copy of the certification card to CarlyRegehr@cusd.com. You will receive a response on whether or not the card meets District training standards.

  • You will be required to attend one of the District’s new certification courses or seek training from an external organization.

  • The most common reasons a certification card from an external agency would be declined/denied:

    • Online-only training with no hands-on, in-person skills testing: Per OSHA regulations, First Aid CPR/AED training must include hands-on skills testing with a certified instructor
    • Missing a required core skill: The certification card is missing one or multiple of the core skills of First Aid, CPR, and/or AED
    • Previous certification is expired beyond 6 months: CUSD will not accept a certification that is more than 6 months expired. You would need to attend a new certification course or seek training from an external organization that meets CUSD and OSHA training standards
  • You will need to receive training from an external organization. Click here to see what the training standards and options are outside of the District.

  • Per the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools, teaching credential students are required to receive certification in Infant/Child/Adult First Aid CPR/AED. CUSD does not offer a certification that satisfies these requirements.

Trainees that need to satisfy CUSD’s requirement for training and teaching credential requirements for trainings can reach out to CarlyRegehr@cusd.com for further questions.

  • Please visit our Aquatics First Aid CPR/AED page for more information.

  • Child Development has their own CPR training program that is managed within the department. Their training program covers Adult and Pediatric First Aid CPR/AED, which is a different certification than what is offered through Risk Mangement’s program.

Please reach out to your direct supervisor for information on how to sign up for Child Development’s CPR training.
