What are the Health Center Hours?

The Health Center’s Hours are as follows:

Monday:         6:30 am - 6:00 pm
Tuesday:        8:00 am - 6:00 pm
Wednesday:   6:30 am - 6:00 pm
Thursday:       8:00 am - 6:00 pm
Friday:            6:30 am - 6:00 pm
Saturday:        9:00 am - 1:00 pm


What are examples of services provided?

Some of the services offered at the Health Center will include treatment for non-emergency injuries and illnesses, primary care services, flu shots, immunizations, annual and sports physicals, minor in office procedures, urgent care, laboratory, prescriptions, gynecology services, chronic disease management and referrals when specialized care is required.

What are examples of services not provided?

Some services will need to be referred out to a more specialized provider such as chiropractic, dental, and vision services, mammograms, x rays, advanced imaging, obstetrics, orthopedic, cardiac, or mental health and substance abuse. In these cases, the miCare providers will assist the patient by finding the best option for them in the Blue Shield network and providing a referral so the patient can receive the advanced level of care they require by utilizing the CUSD Health Plan.

Who can use the Clovis Unified Health Center?

The Health Center is funded by the CUSD Health Plan. Active members, retirees, COBRA members and covered dependents who are on the Clovis Unified health plan may use the Center.

Can patients NOT covered under the Clovis Unified plan utilize the Center?

Patients not covered under the CUSD plan may not use the Health Center. The Health Center is funded by the CUSD health plan. Services are for active employees, retirees, and their dependents who are covered under the Clovis Unified health plan.

Do we have the option of using the health center?

My spouse's insurance is the primary coverage for me and our children and my CUSD benefits are secondary for me and our children.

Yes. Since covered services are paid in full when utilizing the center, no additional insurance will be billed.

Would there be a limit on the number of visits per month or per year?

There will be no limits to the number of visits to the Health Center.

What happens if I miss my appointment, may I reschedule?

We ask for a 24-hour cancellation, we understand life is busy, so we allow one missed appointment before we issue a reminder letter.

How are you planning to keep wait times to a minimum? Will there be walk ins?

By patient’s scheduling their appointment on line or on the mobile app, and specifying the type of appointment they need, miCare can manage appointments and predict appropriate staffing levels to stay on schedule. The health center will block several appointment times each day for same day sick visits. For same day visit requests, the member may call the Health Center to request open times.

Will there be a Pediatrician?

The Health Center will provide primary care services to children over the age of 2 years old. We recommend all services for vaccinations and well child visits be seen by a Pediatrician. We hope to staff the center with Family practice physicians.

Will there be both a female and male doctor available for patients who have a preference?

Yes. Patients will be able to view which provider is scheduled for that day when they book their appointment and may schedule with the provider they are most comfortable with.

If I utilize the health center, will I have to stop using my primary care physician?

You may keep your primary doctor and use the Center as needed.

Are health records shared or transferred to the Center?

Will there be communication between the Center and our regular providers to have our health records shared or transferred to the Center, or would we need to take care of that ourselves?
 
The Health Center will release and/or request your medical information upon your request and a signed release form.

Will the internet practitioner be able to prescribe basic medications?

Will the doctor be able to prescribe over the phone?

Wellvia Telemedical Doctor, which will provide consults for our members, offers prescriptions for a wide range of conditions. These include, but are not limited to, drug classes such as antibiotics and antihistamines. Short-term prescriptions for maintenance medicines may also be obtained in cases where a member is in transition to a new doctor or traveling.

It is important to note that WellVia is not a drug fulfillment warehouse. In the event a doctor does prescribe medication, he/she will limit the supply based on state regulations

WellVia doctors do not issue prescriptions for substances controlled by the DEA, non-therapeutic, and/or certain other drugs. These include, but are not limited to, antidepressant drugs. Also, non-therapeutic drugs are not prescribed.

What type of medications will be available at the Center?

Will 3-month prescriptions be written for chronic medication needs and/or maintenance prescriptions?

miCare provides an acute pre-packaged medication dispensing system in which their onsite clinicians dispense the top 50+ most frequently prescribed medications as allowed by California State law. Please note that miCare does not dispense controlled substances.

In addition miCare has an integrated ePrescribing application within their Electronic Medical Record (EMR) for electronic data entry of prescriptions and reported medications. The prescription entered by the clinician is electronically linked to the CUSD CVS Rx program, and the prescription is then sent electronically to the pharmacy or mail order service where the prescription is filled.

How are the Center's medical providers assigned to patients?

When a patient schedules their visit, they will be able to view which provider is scheduled for that day, members will then have the opportunity to schedule with the provider they are most comfortable

How will referrals to specialists be handled?

Referrals will be made to a specialist on the Blue Shield network for services that cannot be treated at the Health Center.

How will we be assured that the Center's staff are qualified and experienced medical providers?

miCare adheres to the California State standards of accreditation and licensing. miCare has a high standard of care and takes time to select the right Board-Certified providers.

How can we be assured that our personal health records are secure?

Will Clovis Unified have access to my health information and will it be separate from my employment records?

miCare Health Centers operate in a paperless environment and maintain all patient records in an electronic format that is fully compliant with the data and security requirements of HIPAA and state laws. miCare has the necessary controls, policies, and procedures in place to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of its information systems containing employee personal health information (EPHI).

CUSD will not have access to any employee medical file or information.
