Total Compensation Annual Statements

Total Compensation Statements provide summary of all forms of compensation for CUSD employees.

In 2023, the Administrative/Business Services and Human Resources teams are resuming the practice of providing all employees with an annual total compensation summary. The summary, which is now generated out of the District’s financial system, will be emailed to any current contracted employees. The total compensation calculations for the 2023-24 year include base salary, longevity, paid vacation, professional growth, masters/doctoral stipends, Special Education stipends and any extended base pay. It does not include undetermined overtime or stipends you may yet receive this fiscal year. Prior year compensation calculations do include all stipends and/or overtime paid in that fiscal year.

Some key highlights of the Total Compensation Statement include:
  • Contracted Salary: This is the fixed portion of your compensation. It includes any stipends related to longevity or your level of education.
  • Additional Pay/One-Time/Stipends etc.: These are the additional pay adjustments you received in prior years. Although some employees may accept additional assignments every year, because these assignments are determined on a year-to-year basis these are hard to predict and therefore they are not included in your base salary.
  • Statutory and Health and Welfare Benefits: This includes the value of your health insurance, retirement contributions, and other benefits paid for by you and by Clovis Unified.
If you have any questions or need more clarification regarding your personalized statement, please contact the Clovis Unified Total Compensation Hotline at 559-327-9317.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my “% Change from Prior Year” different than the 2023 Board-approved 5.5% salary increase?

Everyone’s salary situation is unique. In general, the percent may have fluctuated differently due to additional changes in your Range, Step or Longevity, the implementation of our salary schedule market study, differences in the number of paid work days in a calendar year for 12-month employees, or as a result of the yet-to-be-finalized contract negotiations currently underway between CSEA Chapter 250 and the District. CSEA-represented employees are currently negotiating a new agreement. They will not see an increase in their “% Change from Prior Year” due to a salary increase on this Total Compensation Report. You may see a change if you are steps across the schedule or if you changed positions recently.

Why does my contracted base pay not match my retirement (STRS/PERS) base pay?

If your contracted base pay does not match your reported retirement base income this could be the result of payroll adjustments that reduced your pay because of unpaid Personal Business or exhausted leave.

Why am I not paying into State Disability?

Clovis Unified is a governmental agency and does not pay into State Disability. The district does provide a disability plan for our non-management operations and business support. If you would like disability coverage, you can enroll in a voluntary disability policy. You can visit the Voluntary Benefits website for more information: https://www.cusd.com/VoluntaryBenefits.aspx
